Las Vegas Monorail Airport Extension
The Clark County Board of Commissioners at its Dec. 6, 2006 zoning meeting approved a 75-year Franchise Agreement and Land Use Permit to extend the Monorail to McCarran International Airport. This is the longest franchise term ever awarded by Clark County. The proposed route will extend from Koval Lane and Tropicana heading east on Harmon Avenue and south on Swenson Street to the airport. The extension will consist of approximately four miles of guideway and connect five proposed new stations with two stations at McCarran International Airport - the first at Terminal 1, the existing main terminal, and the second at the soon-to-be built Terminal 3.
The construction is expected to begin 2008 and testing and completion in 2011.
