Jagermeister Music Tour
THE PLATTERS, Cornell Gunter's COASTERS and Beary Hobb's DRIFTERS perform some of their top 20 hits from the 50's and 60's, 8pm nightly, Congo Room at Sahara hotel.
The Cornell Gunter Coasters will be performing much of the comedy material originally created by the late Cornell Gunter for the original Coasters. Gunter, who was the comic genius of the group, created numerous skits and routines that made the original Coasters the "Clown Princes of Rock and Roll." His creations were often referred to as the "Coasters' music through the ears of Salvador Dali." His legacy lives on as the Cornell Gunter Coasters perform such stellar hits as "Yakty Yak," "Poison Ivy," "Charley Brown," and "Searchin."
The Platters are a well known staple of Las Vegas. Known for the unique style of their numerous ballads, they are one of the smoothest acts in the music business today. Their music recaptures the simplicity of an era when life was easier. They will be performing such love ballads as "Only You," "Great Pretender' and "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes."
The late Elsbeary Hobbs was the original bass singer for the Drifters. It is his deep bass notes that are featured on the opening to "There Goes My Baby," as song that started a new era as the rhythm and blues song to tie classical strings and a classical melody to rock and roll. It was also the first national hit for the Drifters and started a chain of songs which made the group a legendary classic and was the forerunner of the Motown sound. Under Beary Hobb's direction, the Beary Hobb's Drifters carried on into the 90s performing the legendary hits of rock and roll. After his death, the remaining members of the group continue his legacy and still perform such great classics as "This Magic Moment," "Save the Last Dance for Me," "Under the Boardwalk," "Up on the Roof" and other hits.
