1 Mountain Charleston

Take freeway 95 North, turn left at State Highways 156 or 157. Forty-five miles northwest of Las Vegas are the cool, forested canyons of Mount Charleston. When summer temperatures reach 110 degrees in Las Vegas, Charleston is 20 to 30 degrees cooler. At 11,918 feet, it is the tallest peak in the Spring Mountains and Southern Nevada. Most campgrounds and restaurants are between 5,000 and 7,500 feet. Mount Charleston has three camping areas, stables, and a trail to the high, windswept slopes where bristlecone pines have lived for thousands of years. The chair lift sometimes runs in summer at Lee Canyon Ski Area. Kyle Canyon has the Mt. Charleston Hotel and the Mt. Charleston Lodge, both with restaurants, bars, and lodging. ( 1 ) The Grand Canyon
The Grand Canyon is about 300 miles away from Las Vegas. It takes about five hours to drive there. Many Grand Canyon tours are available from Las Vegas. We make reservations for Grand Canyon air/ground tours. For more information, click Grand Canyon.

( 2 ) Valley of Fire
Valley of Fire State Park is about 45 miles away from Las Vegas. Of interest in the park are 1500 year old Indian rock writings and unusual rock formations. Visitor Center 702-875-4141.

( 3 ) Death Valley National Park
Death Valley offers awesome beauty and sites of historical interest. It attracts visitors from all over the world. Not only is it the lowest point in the western hemisphere, it is also famous for its record high summer temperatures. A visit to the park is an easy day trip from Las Vegas. Proceed north on State Route 95 to Beatty, about 90 minutes from Las Vegas. From there it is a short drive into the park. Well worth seeing. Information (760) 786 2331.

3 Hoover Dam

Hoover Dam, one of the seven engineering wonders of the world, is only 45 minutes away from Las Vegas by car. A guided tour at the Dam leads you deep inside the 727 foot dam for a look at its inner workings. We make reservations for Hoover Dam Tours. 4 Red Rock Canyon

5 Lake Mead

Lake Mead National Recreation Area was formed by Hoover Dam and is the largest man-made lake in the Western Hemisphere. It begins about 25 miles from Las Vegas. It offers lake cruises, boating, swimming, rafting tours at Black Canyon and fishing (License required).

Entrance fees are required for following Lake Mead National Recreation Areas: East Lake Mead Drive, East Lake Mead Blvd., Boulder Beach and Katherine Landing.
