Las Vegas is the closest major city to the Grand Canyon. When people talk about visiting Grand Canyon, they normally mean visiting Grand Canyon National Park at the south rim. More people visit the Grand Canyon from Las Vegas than from anywhere else. The second closest major city to the Grand Canyon is Phoenix, Arizona. Grand Canyon National Park at the south rim is about 5 hours driving from Las Vegas.
Grand Canyon North Rim is also part of Grand Canyon National Park, but it is located about 214 miles from the Grand Canyon South Rim. There are no commercial tours for Grand Canyon North Rim from Las Vegas at this time. You have to drive there by yourself. It is about 5 hours driving from Las Vegas. Zion National Park is located approx. 2 hours 30 mins. / 119 miles from Grand Canyon North Rim. Visiting both Zion National Park and Grand Canyon North Rim is a possible arrangement.
Grand Canyon West Rim is not inside Grand Canyon National Park. It is located on a Hualapai Indian reservation, about 2.5-hour driving from Las Vegas. It becomes popular in recent years due to the construction of Grand Canyon Skywalk. If you want to drive from Grand Canyon National Park at south rim to Grand Canyon Skywalk, it takes about 4.5 hours.

1. Self driving. It takes about 5 hours to drive from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon National Park South Rim. We recommend that you stay at least one night at the south rim to enjoy the Grand Canyon. It takes about 3 hours to drive from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon West Rim inside Hualapai Indian Reservation. The Grand Canyon Skywalk is located at the west rim.
2. Taking an air tour from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon. A typical air tour is about 7 hours round trip.
3. Taking a motor coach tour. a motor coach tour to the Grand Canyon National Park South Rim from Las Vegas is about 12 hours round trip.

Skywalk at Grand Canyon West
Skywalk at Grand Canyon West opened on March 28, 2007. Skywalk at Grand Canyon West is a new attraction built by Hualapai Indians and entrepreneur David Jin at Grand Canyon west rim inside Hualapai Indian Reservation. It is a $30 million horseshoe-shaped steel-glass bridge stretching out 70 feet from the edge of the canyon wall. It is about 4,000 feet above the canyons floor. It might be the highest viewing platform in the world. You will have a breathtaking view of the Canyon.
At this time, it costs $50 to enter the reservation, and $25 for a 20-minute walk on the Skywalk.
Las Vegas is the nearest big city to the Hualapai Reservation. It is about 121 miles from Las Vegas and there is about 14 miles unpaved road to the Hualapai Reservation.

Grand Canyon West Rim Directions from Las Vegas
It is about 125 miles, about 2.5 hours driving from the Las Vegas Strip.
Head South on Interstate 15 toward Los Angeles. Take exit 34 to I-215 East toward Henderson. Travel approximately 12 miles on 215 East. Take exit to merge onto US-93/US-95 South toward Boulder City. Travel about 12 miles on US 93. Turn left to stay on US 93 South. Travel about 50 miles on US 93. At about mile marker 42, turn left (North) onto Pierce Ferry Road (Signs indicated Dolan Springs/Meadview City/Pierce Ferry exit). Travel about 30 miles on Pierce Ferry Road. At approximately mile marker 29, turn right (East) on Diamond Bar Road. Travel about 20 miles on Diamond Bar Road (please note that about 9 miles are unpaved by graded regularly). Diamond Bar Road ends at the Grand Canyon West Airport, entrance to Grand Canyon West and home of the Grand Canyon Skywalk!
